Tight integration with NUS Libraries is one of IVLE 7.6's major enhancements. The process of creating E-Reserves and allocating Recommended Books/Readings (RBR) material has now been fully integrated within IVLE.
Follow these steps to create E-Reserves and to allocate books and readings to the RBR section (view flash tutorial):
- Click Module in the Administration toolbar.
- Click
for the desired module.
- Click Text & Readings.
- Click
.
- Fill in text fields.
- For RBR & E-Reserves: Choose relevant library; a librarian will contact you for further action.
- If you want the book to be available in the Co-op, check Notify Co-op and choose the desired Co-op : A co-op rep will contact you for further action.
- Click
.
This system streamlines the E-Reserve creation process as librarians are notified automatically when faculty list their recommended readings in IVLE. The librarians will get in touch with faculty directly, ensuring fast and efficient service.
Another reason E-Reserve creation is hastened is because librarians can view the sum of faculty requests and immediately advise on any possible copyright issues. NUS Libraries, with the co-operation of faculty staff, can also add relevant library resources links in IVLE.
Edits to previously added readings/books will automatically alert library staff. They will contact you to confirm if any action is required.
Another change is that the NUS Libraries portal can now be accessed directly via
, found above the Administration toolbar on My Workspace. Thanks to single sign-on, you will already be logged in to the portal if you access it through IVLE.
The portal itself is integrated with IVLE. Clicking on E-Reserves in the NUS Libraries portal will show the entire list of your modules' E-Reserves.
