IVLE

Mailing List & Live Communication Server (LCS) in My Community

Mailing Lists are email-based discussions enabled through IVLE's My Community groups. The introduction of this feature enables users to carry on threaded email discussions directly instead of having to log into IVLE.

The biggest advantage is that you can now include non-NUS users in your interest group's conversation. This opens up your Community to the world.*

To create a Mailing List

  • Create a Community and add members, if you have not done so already.

  • From My Workspace, click My Community, under RESOURCES on the right menu bar.

  • Click of the community for which you want to set up the mailing list.

  • On the left menu bar, click Mailing List.

  • Click .

  • Name your mailing list. Your mailing list email will be:
    yourchosenname@community.nus.edu.sg

  • Leave Add all members checked if you want to automatically add current Community members to the mailing list.

  • Add other users by typing their emails (can be non-NUS emails) under Additional Email Addresses.

  • Click .

All members of the mailing list will be sent a notification email with instructions for basic use. You can start using the mailing list!

*Do note that access to other IVLE My Community functions still require a NUSNET ID and password.

----------
Live Communication Server (LCS) will be integrated with My Community. This will allow you to view online contacts, instant message and send emails within My Community to other community members.

To enjoy the benefits of LCS integration, all staff and students are advised to download & install Microsoft Office Communicator 2005.
