There is now a place students and staff in NUS can go to scan, edit and print photos, edit audio and video and perform other works of digital magic.
The new Digital Media Centre, located in Yusof Ishak House, is a collaboration between the NUS Photographic Society and CIT.
The centre is a self-service multimedia development haven, housing an array of equipment including Canon printers, film scanners and flatbed scanners. Workstations are equipped with the latest Adobe image and graphics editing software and can accept numerous storage media formats. Users can print digital photos for a small fee.
Several workstations are also set up for video and audio editing. These workstations come with video and audio editing software and have ample storage for huge files.
Another service the DMC provides is the rental of ColorVision SpyderPRO and PrintFix. These are hardware and software solutions for calibrating CRT and LCD monitors as well as printers. Digital photographers can be assured that colours viewed on screen will be faithfully reproduced in print once their monitors and printers are calibrated.
Members of the NUSPS take turns to staff the DMC, ensuring that users always have a friendly helping hand. The DMC is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. It is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
