High availability IVLE in Version 7.6

IVLE has been upgraded to Version 7.6. This upgrade, which took place on Saturday 16 July, features numerous software and hardware improvements. Thanks to the hardware upgrades, IVLE is now an enterprise system.

Students and faculty will benefit from enterprise-status IVLE as it will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year. Users will also experience higher responsiveness, improved stability and faster access. Among the enhanced features are:

• High availability with disaster recovery and redundancy
• Increased throughput with hardware load balancing between four web servers
• High performance database and web servers: x4 Xeon 3.66 / 3.2 CPU with 4-8 Gb memory
• Servers enabled with Gigabit Ethernet (1000BaseT) linkup
• Hardware support for enhanced SSL encryption
• Improved structural design for uploading and downloading of files
• Upgrade to Windows Server 2003
