IVLE upgraded to version 7.5

NUS students and faculty may have noticed several changes to the Integrated Virtual Learning Environment (IVLE) during the semester break. These changes are part of an IVLE upgrade, from version 7.4 to 7.5 on 18 December 2004.

The most obvious changes are the ones to the interface. A pastel colour scheme now greets users when they log on to IVLE. The fonts have also been streamlined for a consistent look throughout the system.

Besides IVLE's change in appearance, important modifications - both minor and major - have been made under the hood. New and enhanced tools and resources abound. Two new tools are the RSS feed reader and the live Lecture Theatre feedback service.

The RSS feed reader is a convenience to staff and faculty. The feed reader collates the latest updates from websites which possess RSS feeds. These feeds can be found on many news sites, including the Straits Times Interactive, and other websites which are continually updated. Users can add the feeds to the feed reader which works in the background to inform users when new articles have been posted on the subscribed websites. Depending on the RSS feed, you will get a summary or the complete text of articles.

Another new function is the live Lecture Theatre feedback tool. Using this tool, students can give on-the-spot feedback about the lecture through IVLE. The feedback goes directly to the lecturer and remains private.
