The Centre for Instructional Technology was formed in 1999. Our mission is to
enhance teaching and learning through the application of digital and audio-visual technologies. This involves:
Creating awareness of the potential of information technology (IT) and audio-visual technologies in enhancing education;
Supporting the creation and incorporation of multimedia content in courses
and the development of new applications and services for academia;
Defining, developing and providing infrastructure services central to
instructional technology efforts;
Continual improvement of processes activities,
courses, products and services; and
Systematic use of qualitative and quantitative feedback as a basis for
identifying and prioritizing improvement and opportunities.
Organizational Structure
CIT consists of four closely related teams working in tandem.
IVLE & Courseware Development This team develops and supports NUS'
course management system called IVLE, students' e-portfolio, interactive multimedia courseware, eModules, web-based training, plagiarism prevention service, graphics support, course website development and conducts faculty visits.
Flexible Education This team services distance and online
learning through video conferencing, webcast & podcast lectures and virtual classroom software. They also support the streaming services, Network TV and facilities management.
Multimedia This team engages in video & audio production,
and analogue & digital photography. The team produces corporate, instructional and
informational videos in-house and conducts regular video assessment courses. They also also perform comprehensive event coverage, DVD authoring and production and documentation.
Systems This team ensures that the hardware that supports the NUS ' course management system IVLE and other CIT services and resources are up and running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
